String instrument.
PIRA: Unknown
Using one string of a sonometer, one may pluck at different distances from the end and listen to the changing tones as the strengths of different harmonics are changed. The presence of the harmonics can be detected by touching a narrow wooden bar at the nodes of various harmonics. One can alternately pluck and touch to find strong resonances at several different octave intervals above the fundamental.
